Bharti Kher’s artistic journey spans 25 years and encompasses a diverse array of paintings, sculptures, and installations. Her practice is deeply rooted in themes of animism, surrealism, and the essence of existence, as she explores the world through a unique lens. Drawing inspiration from a broad spectrum of sources and techniques, Kher masterfully transforms readymades and materials, imbuing them with layers of meaning and potential. Her works often exude a dynamic energy, employing counterpoint and contradiction to create visual intrigue. Through her chimeras, mythical creatures, and allegorical pieces, Kher weaves together references that are simultaneously contemporary and traditional, political and poetic. Kher completed her Foundation Course in Art and Design at Middlesex Polytechnic in London and earned a BA in Fine Art, with honors, in Painting from Newcastle Polytechnic in the United Kingdom. Her work has been showcased in numerous solo exhibitions and featured in countless group exhibitions at museums and galleries around the world.
