Danny Ferrell (born 1991, Pennsylvania) is a Pittsburgh-based artist and Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a BFA in Painting from Pennsylvania State University and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Ferrell’s work, featured in exhibitions across the U.S., Canada, and France, blends everyday queer male experiences with fantastical elements. Influenced by the Cadmus Circle and Hudson River School, his vibrant paintings merge the ordinary with the extraordinary, exploring dichotomies like public/private and nature/culture. By incorporating references to European royal portraiture, Ferrell elevates queer subjects, portraying them with a sense of grandeur and importance.
