Erika Larsen is a photographer and storyteller known for her work documenting cultures with deep connections to nature. She has contributed to National Geographic magazine, covering stories such as the lives of Sàmi reindeer herders in the Arctic and the cultural importance of horses among Native Americans. Larsen also played a key role in the magazine’s 2016 Yellowstone Issue and contributed to the book Yellowstone: A Journey Through America’s Wild Heart. A Fulbright Fellow, she studied the North Sàmi language, leading to her 2013 monograph Sàmi, Walking With Reindeer. Currently, as a National Geographic Society Fellow, she is exploring the relationship between landscapes, animals, and natural resources in the Americas. Her work has been exhibited at institutions like the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and Fotografiska Museum. She is also featured in Women of Vision: National Geographic Photographers on Assignment.
