Graduated from the Beaux-arts de Paris in 2014, Lise Stoufflet (born in 1989 in Châtenay-Malabry, France) lives and works in Aubervilliers where she co-founded an artist-run-space named « Le Houloc ». Her work has been exhibited at the Musée d’art Contemporain de Lyon, the Villa Medicis in Rome, the Contemporary Art Centre of Meymac, at the Fine Arts Museum of Dole, at Le Châssis in Paris, at Nassima-Landau in Tel Aviv, and at Bugada & Cargnel in Paris (who represented her work until it closed in 2018), Lyles & King in New York, Double V Gallery in Marseille etc. Between Surrealism and Narrative Figuration, the paintings, drawings and ceramics of Lise Stoufflet invoke dreams, anxieties and common fantasies. Her ambiguous and intriguing compositions offer several layers of reading whose key of comprehension escapes to the spectator to better raise his questions and emotions. Stoufflet’s soft and candid palette and the recurrent clues she scatters in her paintings (strands of knotted hair, ribbons, tears or card games) both nourish a coherent and recognizable body of work.
