Maya Erdelyi is an award-winning animator and artist known for her experimental animation, collage, printmaking, and collaborative projects. Her work spans hand-crafted animations inspired by imaginary worlds and memories, using techniques like cut-paper stop-motion, puppetry, and digital animation. Maya’s art has been showcased in film festivals, galleries, museums, and DIY venues worldwide. She was a 2020 City of Boston Artist Fellow and has received numerous residencies and fellowships, including the 2019 Yaddo Residency and the 2017 Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship in Film. Maya holds an MFA in Experimental Animation from CalArts and has taught at Tufts University, RISD, and Pratt Institute. She is currently working on an animated documentary about her grandmother’s life and several large-scale installations. Born in New York City, Maya is of Colombian and Hungarian descent and lives in Boston with her husband and daughter.
