Sedrick Huckaby’s art powerfully explores faith, family, community, and heritage through vivid paintings and drawings that often approach the texture and depth of relief sculpture. Known for his monumental works, Huckaby celebrates everyday people in themes of quilts and portraits. His largest piece, A Love Supreme, spans 80 feet and took eight years to complete, earning him a Guggenheim Fellowship. Huckaby’s work is held in numerous prestigious collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. He holds a BFA from Boston University and an MFA from Yale, with residency experiences across the U.S. and Europe. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Huckaby serves as Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. Married to artist Letitia Huckaby, he is also a father of three. His work is represented by Philip Martin Gallery in Los Angeles and Talley Dunn Gallery in Dallas.
