Jessie Stevenson (b. 1993, Norwich, UK) is a painter inspired by landscapes, using them to explore physical and emotional energies through dynamic color. Her works reflect themes of escapism, blending historical, autobiographical, spiritual, and literary sources. Stevenson draws from nature, particularly the North Norfolk coastline, incorporating elements like clouds, marshlands, and light into her paintings. Her approach, akin to a layered tapestry, combines writing, drawing, and video, creating narratives that evoke beauty, chaos, and alternative realities. Stevenson graduated from Central Saint Martins (2017) and earned her MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art (2022), where she received The Bartolomeu dos Santos Award. Recent exhibitions include ‘The Circling Deeps’ at Sapling Gallery (2023) and ‘Broken Gleam’ in Sweden (2022). She has also participated in group shows at Herald St Gallery and The Whitechapel Gallery. Stevenson’s accolades include the Cass Art Prize (2017) and a residency at The Prado Museum (2022).
