Arcmanoro Niles is an American figurative painter born in Washington, D.C., and currently based in New York City. His vibrant, deeply emotive works focus on portraiture, often depicting Black figures in everyday, intimate moments. Niles is known for his use of bright, saturated colors, such as oranges, pinks, and blues, which give his paintings a glowing, almost otherworldly quality. His figures are often set against surreal backdrops, with gold leaf or metallic accents that emphasize the emotional weight of his subjects. Central to Niles’ work are themes of identity, vulnerability, and the complexities of human relationships. He often paints friends, family, and himself, exploring personal and collective experiences of Black life in America. Niles earned his BFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and his MFA from the New York Academy of Art. His work has been exhibited in galleries across the U.S. and internationally, gaining recognition for its raw emotional depth and distinctive style
