Nirit is a bold colorist, building up faceted figurative bodies through the application of near-abstract flat forms. With a sharp understanding of the power adjacent colors impart upon one another, her figures pop from the canvas, with vivid dimensional depth. In Her Painting, she deals with issues that arise from the daily life of the Beta Israel Community in contemporary Israel reality, as well as her private memory, and finds inspiration in the folklore of the Ethiopian culture. Nirit Takele's works have been a source of inspiration and discussion in many academic studies and publications on issues of representation, gender, and identity in Israeli society.
